Northwest deputy AD Troy Katen will take over as director of athletics at Valdosta State University.

Northwest Missouri State deputy athletic director Troy Katen is on the move.

Katen will take over as the athletic director at Valdosta State University. He replaces Herb Reinhard who is retiring after 32 years serving in the role.

"I am honored and excited to be named the next Director of Athletics at Valdosta State University," Katen said in a statement. "VSU is nationally known in Division II, and it is a privilege to lead this program and continue the championship culture. I would like to thank President Carvajal, Director of Athletics, Herb Reinhard, members of the search committee, and the VSU community for allowing me this opportunity to lead the Blazer athletic department going forward. My family and I cannot wait to arrive in Valdosta and officially call Blazer Nation home."

Katen joined Northwest in June of 2019. He oversaw the Bearcat Booster Club, athletic licensing, athletic department development and external facility contracts, as well as corporate sponsorships.

A graduate of Kansas Wesleyan University, he coached multiple sports and was an athletic administrator at Dakota Wesleyan, Peru State, Wentworth Military Academy, Central Methodist and Saint Mary prior to coming to Maryville.
