Northwest battled tough against a team trending toward the NCAA Tournament in March, but they didn't have enough firepower Thursday night in a 73-62 loss to Pittsburg State.
The Bearcats (3-21, 2-14 MIAA) led the Gorillas (20-5, 13-3 MIAA) 19-15 late in the first quarter, but Pitt went on a 16-3 run to take a nine point lead. Northwest trailed the rest of the way, but were never out of it, even getting within four points of Pittsburg State late in the fourth quarter.
Tanya Meyer led the Bearcats with 31 points and seven rebounds.
Jaelyn Haggard also added 11 points, all coming in the first half.
Northwest plays its final home game of the season Saturday at 1:30pm against Missouri Southern. Pregame on KXCV-KRNW begins at 1:10pm.
