The Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety encourages all high schools, throughout the state of Missouri, to participate in the Battle of the Belt Challenge.
Youth Coordinator for the Traffic and Highway Safety Division, Carrie Wolken, says the challenge is a high school competition regarding seat bealt use.
The program consists of two surprise seat belts checks, to measure student seat belt usage before and after the educational campaign.
Schools also have the opportunity to send in a 30 second video spot directed towards buckling up. Around 200 schools participate in the Battle of the Belt Challenge each year. Several schools in northwest Missouri take part in the Battle of the Belt challenge each year.
This year's competition will run Oct 1 through Nov 19.
