A 32-year-old Maryville woman, Kristina M. Swinford has been charged in federal court in connection with a murder-for-hire scheme.
Maryville Public Safety Director Keith Wood says the investigation began several weeks ago when his office was given information about a local resident attempting to recruit someone to harm or kill another individual.
The federal complaint charges Swinford with contacting two individuals to kill the wife of her ex-boyfriend.
Her intended victim is identified in court documents as "A.M."
United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, Tammy Dickinson says one of the individuals Swinford contacted was an undercover federal agent.
