Enrollment at Northwest Missouri State University is up 3.6 percent this fall; with 6,720 students enrolled.
The total headcount consists of 5,491 undergraduate students and 1,229 graduate students. Graduate enrollment increased 30 percent from the same time last year.
Northwest Missouri State Dean of Enrollment, Bev Schenkel, says this increase can be attributed to collaborative efforts across campus.
Northwest's first-time freshmen and international student numbers also saw an increase.
The enrollment of international students saw an increase to 708 international students, a 98 percent increase from last fall.
Schenkel adds a large part of this increase comes from the graduate program.
The headcount is also comprised of 1,297 first-time freshmen, up 3 percent from last year's headcount. Around 71 percent of Northwest's fall 2013 freshman class have returned to the University this fall, placing Northwest's retention rate above that of the national average.
