Missouri House opens investigation into Gov. Greitens

The Missouri House of Representatives has formed a committee to open an investigation into Governor Eric Greitens.

The official resolution passed unanimously in the House near the end of last week, as Greitens' trial date for felonious invasion of privacy was set in St. Louis. Representative Allen Andrews, a Republican from Grant City, says the committee's job will be to look into all of the facts in the case.

The investigation should be starting within the next ten days, and will likely take at least 40 days to complete. Though Greitens' trial is set for May 14, Representative Rusty Black, a Republican from Chillicothe, says the House is more focused on finishing the investigation while in regular session.

Black says the House is looking to finish during the session because the process of calling the legislators into special session can be complicated and costly. Andrews adds that during the investigation, the House will keep working on its set legislative priorities for the year.
