St. Joseph's spring open burning dates announced

The City of St. Joseph Health Department has announced the spring open burning dates.

From Monday, April 2 to Sunday, April 22 residents of St. Joseph are allowed to burn yard waste openly. Public Information Officer Stephanie Malita says residents are restricted to burning only yard waste, not other trash. Malita says there are a few restrictions to burning, including the fact that high winds may cause some burning dates to be cancelled.

Additionally, fires must be in upright cylindrical metal containers up to 55 gallons, which must be at least 15 feet from any building. Residences are limited to one of these containers, and any fire site should have fire-fighting material like a garden hose readily available when burning.
