It was a busy week in Jefferson City with the Missouri Senate poring over and passing their version of the state's budget for the next fiscal year.
Rep. Rusty Black, a Republican from Chillicothe, says the measures the Senate passed may look good, but the House believes they still need work.
Committees will spend time in the upcoming weeks developing a reconciled version of the budget they believe both chambers can accept. Notably, the Senate's version of the budget contained $50 million less in appropriations for K-12 schools than the House version does.
Black says the House also considered the state's construction budget. He says those projects will represent the first state-sponsored lake building projects since Mozingo Lake east of Maryville.
