St. Joseph woman dies in crash

A 66-year-old St. Joseph woman was killed in a two-vehicle accident last night in Platte County shortly after nine o'clock.

According to a report from the Missouri Highway Patrol, a tractor-trailer rig driven by 71-year-old Carl E. Doty, Jr. crossed the median from southbound I-29 to the northbound lanes at the 24 mile marker, just north of Platte City and attempted to make a u-turn when a car driven by 67-year old Herbert D. Humphrey of St. Joseph struck the rear portion of Doty's tractor-trailer.

A passenger in Humphrey's car, Cynthia J. Humphrey, died as a result of injuries suffered in the crash. Herbert Humphrey received serious injuries. The accident was investigated by the Missouri Highway Patrol and the Platte County Sheriff's Department.
