Mound City school board discusses volunteerism and mobile app

The Mound City R-2 Board of Education met last week.  The board heard reports from students, faculty and both the elementary and middle school and high school principals.  Mound City Superintendent Ken Eaton says one of the things he discussed with the board was a partnership with a local group on outside help for students.

"We have a group in town, that's several of the churches, called 'The Shop' and they've approached the school about getting involved with volunteerism at school.  As far as reading to kids, extra math help extra reading help, or helping in the kitchen.  So we're coordinating a schedule with them to get them involved in the district and supporting the school."

Eaton also says he discussed the possibility of a mobile app with the board.

"Trying to push forward to where everybody can get their information on their cell phone using the mobile application that would go to our website.  We'd also tweet out, facebook and push out notification for different announcements that are going on at school."
