Trails West celebration ends after a 26-year-run

The Allied Arts Council of St. Joseph announced Friday that after 26 years it is suspending it's Trails West celebration. Executive Director of the Allied Arts Council, Teresa Fankhouser says there were several different factors the Council considered before making their decision.

"Attendance has declined over the years, but yet our costs continue to increase.  Performers, infrastructure fees - those were all of the factors.  That made us say 'ok we've had a great 26-year-run and now it's time to'.  Someone said end the chapter and start working on the next chapter."

Fankhouser adds they will continue their mission of bringing arts and people together.

"We're going to take this year to look at all the opportunities.  The main thing is we will continue our mission of bringing arts and people together in a public forum.  So that's what we'll be looking at.  And what that's going to look like?  We don't even want to try and guess at this point.  We want to come in with an open mind and without any pre-concieved ideas."
