MDC releases antlerless harvest totals

The Missouri Department of Conservation has released the harvest totals for the antlerless portion of Missouri's firearm season.
The antlerless portion of Missouri's firearm season ran over this past weekend from November 30th to December 2nd. The report showed a harvest total of 6,585 deer with Callaway county leading the way with 261. News Services Coordinator with the Missouri Department of Conservation Joe Jerek says the totals were without a few counties in Northwest Missouri.

"Some counties, especially up in northwest Missouri - Atchison, Holt, Nodaway, and Andrew- are closed for hunting during the antlerless portion of the deer season.  Typically during this portion, they don't have adequate deer populations to support the additional antlerless portion of the deer harvest."

The antlerless portion brings Missouri's firearm deer season to an end but Archery deer hunting continues through January 15th, 2019 and the alternative methods portion runs from December 22nd through January 1st.  For more information visit mdc.mo.gov.
