St. Joseph Symphony to perform a Viennese holiday

The Saint Joseph Symphony will be holding their holiday concert Saturday night at the Missouri Theater in downtown Saint Joseph. Music Director and Conductor of the Saint Joseph Symphony, Rico McNeela, says this year's concert is a Viennese holiday.

"The Viennese have this wonderful tradition of celebrating New Year's and the holidays in general.  And there's great music associated with it.  And we've always done one or two pieces relating to that in previous holiday concerts, but I began "why not do a whole program?". So that's how this one came about.  And it's all this wonderful music that you see on New Year's Day coming from piano on public TV stations.  It's festive.  It's light.  It's exciting with lots and lots of short pieces.  I think it's going to be a great evening."

The concert begins at seven o'clock Saturday evening.  Ticket information is available at saintjosephsymphony.org .
