Bearcats receive top seed, will host NCAA Central Region

Northwest Missouri State University will be the site of the NCAA Central Region Tournament once again this March.

The Bearcats earned the top seed in the region by posting a 27-3 record, including the MIAA regular season championship and MIAA Tournament Title.

Northwest meets Minnesota State in the second round of the tournament. The 'Cats beat the Mavericks in the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2016. Current Bearcat guard Joey Witthus was a member of MSU in that contest. In his first year in green and white, Witthus has started all 30 games and is averaging 11.7 points per game.

This will be the second time Northwest has hosted the region. The first came in 2017 with the Bearcats beating Southwest Minnesota State to advance to the Elite Eight, and ultimately won the national championship.
