Pitts becomes 3-time MIAA Player of the Year

After capping the regular season with another MIAA Championship, Northwest senior point guard Justin Pitts garnered top accolades from the conference.

Despite being slowed by injury, Pitts dazzled throughout the regular season averaging 19.1 points, 5 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game. The Blue Springs native also broke the Northwest single-game record for three-pointers against Northeastern State on November 30 going 10-13 from beyond the arc.

Throughout his career, Pitts has also become the Bearcats all-time leader in single-season points (754 in 2016-17), career points (2,407 and counting), single-season assists (183 in 2016-17), career assists (561 and counting), single-season field goals (275 in 2016-17) and career field goals (870 and counting).

Joining Pitts on the All-MIAA team, Chris-Ebou Ndow was named to the second team, and Brett Dougherty and Joey Witthus were named to the third team. Dougherty was also featured on the MIAA All-Defense squad for the first time.

The Bearcats claimed an outright league title with a win over Lincoln last weekend, and head into the postseason with a 24-3 overall record, 16-3 MIAA.
