Clarinda Lied Library events & services

The Lied Public Library in Clardina has a number of upcoming events and services this month. The library now offers homebound delivery for City of Clarinda residents unable to visit the library. Library Director Andrew Hoppmann says the project was born out of a desire to expand the library's outreach beyond care centers.

"Essentially it's a service geared to those individuals who are unable to get to the library be that from a medical condition, health condition, or just a temporary situation they are in. We really just want to make sure they can still access the materials and everything that we have at the library. So they can give us a call and we can get it worked out."

On Monday, the library will hold a Cord Cutting 101 class at 4 p-m. Hoppman says that the class is geared towards informing patrons about the non-Cable options available to them, and the pros and cons of each one.

"So everyone uses the same book, but no one is allowed to use the same recipe.  So we have recipes printed here at the library.  So you kind of come and pick your recipe.  And then what you do is is you make the dish and bring it to the book club or potluck meeting. Then it's a way to kind of get to make different recipes from the book and share what went well or what didn't work well."

And on Tuesday at 6 p.m., the new monthly "Cook the Book" program will meet for a potluck book club.
