Man arrested on narcotics charges

A northwest Missouri man was arrested this week on drug charges following an investigation by the Nodaway County Sheriff's office, Tarkio Police Department and the Buchanan County Drug Strike Force. According to a report from the Nodaway County Sheriff's Office, Brandon Ray Joyner was arrested following a surveillance operation near Wilcox, in Nodaway County. Joyner has been charged in Atchison County with Distribution of a Controlled Substance, methamphetamine, near a protected location, which is a school. Additionally, Joyner has been charged in Nodaway County with Possession of a Controlled Substance. Nodaway County Sheriff Randy Strong says Joyner was a person of interest in Nodaway County prior to this week's arrest.

"We had a report from an individual in this county that Joyner had assaulted him and hit him with this handgun in the head.  We believe it to be narcotics related.  We had also been working with Atchison county, people in Tarkio, and they knew that Joyner was coming into our county here, so we had shared information and worked a plan out.  We knew that he primarily lived over in this area.  So that's why we focused on this area and it was a little bit easier to watch for places he was known to frequent."

Bond for Joyner has been set at 250 thousand dollars.
