New artwork will soon hit the Maryville streets.

The Maryville Public Art Committee unveiled the sculptures that will be displayed downtown throughout 2019 at Monday night's city council meeting.

Mark Hendrix, the president of the organization, said the new art fit in well with the region.

"The four that we picked, we felt like it just really spoke to Nodaway County, northwest Missouri," Hendrix said. "It has a little something for everybody."

The new sculptures will be installed downtown later this Spring.

"The statues that we have right now, those will be up until after Northwest's graduation, so probably that week after, May fourth, we'll take down the old ones. And we'll have the new ones up in time for Art, Rhythm and Brews, which will be May 17th of this year, so put that on your calendar. We're starting to really get things going for that."
