New wind farm tax proposed

A bill filed in the Missouri House would require taxes generated by a wind farm to stay in the county where the wind farm is located.  Currently, tax revenue goes to the county of the company that owns the turbines.  The bill was filed by 1st District State Representative Allen Andrews.  Andrews says he believes local economies should benefit more the wind farms.

"If I'm gonna look out my window and I'm gonna see a wind turbine, I want to know for sure that it's generating money for my local school, for my fire department, for my ambulance district.  That it is helping my local community and my local citizens."

Andrews, a Republican from Grant City, says the bill will be one of his priorities this legislative session.
