Northwest Board approves in-state tuition for veterans

The Northwest Missouri State University Board of Regents  approved changes to support in-state tuition and fees for uniformed service veterans and their qualified dependents yesterday morning. Northwest Director of Financial Aid, Charles Mayfield, says the changes keep Northwest in compliance with federal G-I bill regulations.

"Department of Veteran Affairs requires certain things of institutions if they want to let them participate in their students to receive GI bill benefits.  In this most recent change was for students who receive GI bill benefits under the Vocational Rehabilitation portion of the GI bill to allow those students to receive in-state tuition.  They have a couple of other criteria students have to meet.  They have to have enrolled within three years of the ending of their military service or they have to be on active duty  So there are some other requirements but the idea was to allow those students if they come from out-of-state and they don't already get in-state tuition to be able to pay the in-state tuition rate."

The Northwest Board of Regents also approved the Faculty Appointments for the Spring 2019 trimester.
