Todd Oliver & Friends to perform on Feb 2

The Performing Arts Association presents "Todd Oliver & Friends' Funniest Night of Your Life" at Gallery on Sixth in St. Joseph. Comedian, musician, and ventriloquist Todd Oliver will perform his set, centered around Irving, the world famous talking dog, on Saturday, February 2nd at 6:30 p.m. Oliver says he's been interested in performing ventriloquism and magic from a young age.

"I got a dummy from Christmas when I was 10 years old. Three days later, my dad died.  The little dummy helped me with my sadness of losing my father.  I went to library and they had a whole selection of books on ventriloquism and magic.  I just read everything I could find. When I was 13 years old, I started doing shows as a volunteer."

Oliver says that the aim of his show is family-friendly entertainment and comedy.

"My best memories are of me and my family all laughing together when I was growing up.  And that's our goal for today; kids, their parents and their grandparents all laughing at the same time."

Oliver has been featured on the Late Show with David Letterman, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and The Today Show, as well as the top 4 in the 2012 America's Got Talent competition. The show will consist of magic, ventriloquism, original music, and audience participation. Foxly Bros will cater the event with a menu of salad, baked chicken and pork roast, green beans, mashed potatoes, and mini cheesecakes. A cash bar will be available.
