The Nodaway County Sheriff's Department received a tip this week concerning the identity of a St. Joseph Bank Robbery suspect that later led to his arrest. That's according to Sheriff Randy Strong.

"We were contacted Tuesday morning by some individuals here in Maryville that thought they had recognized the pictures of the bank robbery suspect from Citizens Bank & Trust in St. Joseph on Monday and gave us a name. And they'd also reported that they'd followed up with a tip to the hotline."

Strong says his department worked with the FBI, St. Joseph Police Department, and Holt County Sheriff's Department in an investigation that resulted in the arrest of 38-year-old Nicholas Lehman, who had been living with a girlfriend in Maitland, Missouri.  Strong says social media also aided in the investigation.

"Once I had a name, I was able to do a little bit of Facebook looking.  And sure enough, he had a Facebook page and we pulled up pictures of him.  And one of them had a picture of him in front of his car.  So happy day for us.  So we could pass that out to all the law enforcement area people and be vigilant and watch for him."

Lehman was taken into custody Thursday afternoon on I-29, just outside of Kansas City and arrested on a Buchanan County warrant related to the robbery.  He is also a suspect of another bank robbery in the Zona Rosa area of Gladstone and has also been convicted on previous charges of Armed Criminal Action, Forgery and Robbery in the First Degree.
