Dog issues addressed at Albany Board of Aldermen meeting

The Albany Board of Aldermen heard a report from Albany Animal Control Officer Marsha Adams on dog issues at its meeting Tuesday. Albany city administrator Derek Brown says dog issues are something the city of Albany is familiar with.

"It's an age-old issue in cities, at least it has been in Albany. I suspect other cities.  And we're just trying to work through those.  The board had been getting several calls, members of the board had been getting calls.  We're trying to get through those.  That took up a good part of the meeting last night."

Brown adds the board stressed that the dog ordinances in the city be better enforced.

"To have a little bit better communication between Animal Control and City Hall.  And really to take a stronger stance from a progressive enforcement perspective.  We always try to give a verbal warning about an issue to the dog's owner and make that a progressively more serious action."
