Education and Workforce Development are top priorities for 2nd half on Legislative Session

The Legislative Session is nearly halfway through for this year and Missouri Senator Dan Hegeman, a Republican from Cosby, says some of the issues that both the House and Senate are working on are Education and Workforce Development.

"And in education, we continue to support education, our schools, a lot of discussion on some education reform efforts and ideas that would move in that direction.  Really a lot of effort to look at workforce development and to try to tie that into education and needs there.  I have some grant programs to help with that.  A lot of discussion on that going back and forth.  Hopefully we'll make some progress on that after spring break is over and the 2nd half of session."

Hegeman also adds both the House and Senate are committed to making education one of the top priorities for this session.

"I think both the House and the Senate are committed to fully fund the foundation formula for education again this year.  Certainly look forward to doing that.  But there are some other areas where we might have some disagreement.  We'll work that out in a congenial fashion and look forward to that process the 2nd half of the session."
