First Impact Program to be held April 8th in Brookfield

Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety is presenting First Impact Program next month in Linn County. The event will be held in Brookfield, April 8th from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in Linn County Health Department, 635 South Main Street. First Impact is a 90-minute evidence-based traffic safety program that educates parents about Missouri's Graduated Drivers License Law. First Impact Director Deana Dothage says there are a few objectives for the program.

"..are to increase parental awareness of what the teen driving risks are, to help parents understand that GDL law, and to give parents some tips on how to monitor and enforce that law at home and while they're out with their teens teaching them how to drive.   And one of the biggest points that we do make is the importance of being a positive role model, because the parents are the first impact."

The goal of First Impact is to reduce new driver crashes, resulting injuries and fatalities, by increasing parental awareness and enforcement of Missouri Graduated Drivers License law.
