Heavier truckloads allowed on MO highways until April 21st

In response to flooding and the state of emergency declared by Missouri Governor Mike Parson, the state Department of Transportation will allow heavier-than-normal truckloads of rock, sand, and gravel to travel on Missouri Highways. MoDOT Spokeswomen DeAnnne RickaBaugh says MoDOT made the changes to help with repairs.

"We decided at MoDOT to allow heavier-than-normal truck loads of rock, sand, and gravel  so that folks can work on fortifying and repairing roads, levees, and railroads."

RickaBaugh adds this waiver will remain in affect until April 21.

"Motor carriers can travel at 10% over licensed weight only within the state of Missouri.  And while traveling, they must obey the posted bridge weight limit.  When they do cross a bridge, we need them to go no faster than 30 miles per hour.  No travel at all is allowed on a Missouri Interstate Highway."
