KCP&L reviewed capital plan with public

KCP&L hosted a public informational meeting to review its five-year capital plan this week at the Capital Plaza Hotel in Jefferson City. Spokesman for KCP&L Jeremy McNeive says the meeting included a presentation of the capital expense report.

"What it included was our comprehension energy plan from 2007 to 2017.  It was our vision for years to transform the grid.  We spent a decade executing on that plan, which was basically a major build cycle that resulted multiple customer benefits such as improved reliability, increased automation, more renewable generation, and cleaner air."

McNieve also added that since they are now through the major build cycle, they can continue to concentrate on customers' expectations.

"An example of that would be smart meters which enable a quicker outage response.  More efficient system operations, cleaner generation - wind, solar.  Grid monitorization and some onward looking projects such as new IT systems and increase in our cleaning charge network."
