MO Highway Patrol is accepting applications for next recruit class

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is still accepting applications for the 109th recruit class which is set to start January 6, 2020. Missouri State Highway Patrol Public Information Officer for Troop H, Sergeant Jake Angle, says there are a couple of phases of the hiring process.

"The first phase of the hiring process is a written test.  It's just a general aptitude test; it has some reading comprehensions and a little bit of math, just a general aptitude test.  And then upon completion of the written portion, if you pass the written portion, that same day you would take a physical skills test which is a mile and a half run for time, 300 meter dash for time, and then as many push-ups and sit-ups that you can do in a minute."

Angle adds there are some requirements that must be met in order to apply.

"There are a list of them on our website under 'careers' but some of the main ones are that you have to have 2 years prior law enforcement, 2 years prior military service which includes national guard service, or 30 college credit hours.  Now there are other requirements referenced like you would have to be a Missouri resident upon graduation and there's some other ones.  You have to obviously meet certain requirements to go through the hiring process.  Those are listed on the website, pretty long list, but the three main requirements are the 3 pre-requisites before you can apply."

Testing in Troop H will be held March 30 at the Troop H Headquarters, 3525 North Belt St. Joseph, Misouri. There are testing dates all across the state for the 109th recruit class and those dates can also be found on the Highway Patrol's website under 'careers'.
