Rain and flooding to be expected this week

With the recent snow and rain the region has received in recent weeks, area residents should see a rise in flood water. Meteorologist for the National Weather Service, Chris Gitro, says they are expecting gradual increases in flood water this week.

"Near rivers and streams, as a result of the snowmelt up north, working down the area rivers.  And then we're going to have a couple of storms move through the area this week which are going to bring additional rainfall to the area.  The two of those factors compounded will lead to an increased flooding potential across northwestern Missouri through mid to late week."

Gitro adds kof the KXCV/KRNW listening should experience some flood issues this week.

"I don't think there's going to be one particular area that's going to get more rainfall than the other per say.  But I think just about all areas across northern Missouri, eastern Kansas, southeastern Nebraska are going to be subject to increased water levels in area streams and the possibility of minor flooding."
