Second Harvest Community Food Bank funds many programs

Second Harvest Community Food Bank in St. Joseph kicked off their annual fund drive Friday. Second Harvest has currently raised over $198,000 of their $630,000 goal. Chief Development Officer Michelle Fagerstone says they use the funds to help with their programming.

"Our programming with our No Hunger Summer Program, our campus covered programs, backpack buddies, our fresh mobile pantries, food service distribution throughout our service territory.  We cover 19 counties, 15 of which are in northwest Missouri and four in northeast Kansas."

Fagerstone adds this year Second Harvest is offering a new way to contribute.

"On the front page is our new peer-to-peer platform that you can go and create your own fundraising page.  So if you want to challenge your team at work or if you want to challenge your friends to a friendly competition of who could raise the most money, you can go there and do that.  That's a platform that's similar to GoFundMe.

The annual fund drive lasts from now until May 31st. To donate or create a team, visit shcfb.org .
