St. Joseph Transit celebrates new buses

Saint Joseph Transit celebrated the addition of new buses to its fleet this week. General Manager for Saint Joseph Transit, Mary Gaston, says these buses were a long time coming.

"We had our ribbon cutting Monday for our first 9 new buses.  And they replaced some very old equipment that has been in our fleet since 2003."

Gaston says St. Joseph Transit will acquire more new buses within two years.

"We have a second phase where we are going to use grant funds to replace the rest of our old fleet.  Hopefully that'll happen in the next 18 months to 2 years."

Gaston adds St. Joseph Transit plans to increase service during morning and evening rush hours.
