State Rep. Andrews reappointed to the Majority Whip Team

First District State Representative, Allen Andrews, has been reappointed to the Majority Whip team in the Missouri House. House Majority Whip Representative, Steve Lynch, reappointed Andrews to the position. He says Representative Andrews will play a key role in communicating the policies of the majority caucus and addressing the concerns of his colleagues. As Deputy Whip, Andrews is also responsible for assisting Lynch in rounding up votes on critical issues and coordinating six floor whips in informing subsets of the caucus members on key issues and votes.

Andrews says serving as Deputy Whip provides an opportunity to better represent the interests of the first district.

"...provides more of an inside track, more of a unique perspective on certain legislative issues that are a concern to us as a party, as well as those of us in Northwest Missouri.  You know, what are important issues that we have."

Andrews adds that as Deputy Whip, he'll work to inform other members and reach across the aisle.

"I'm not somebody that's going to go and twist somebody's arm and try to convince them or try to get them to vote a certain way.  I just don't think that this has a place in government.  And what I can do as a Whip is try to really be respectful and mindful of people's views and their positions and just be there to be able to give information, answer questions that they might have."
