5 athletes, 1 administrator tabbed for M-Club Hall of Fame

Former Bearcat wide receiver Jake Soy is among the six individuals entering the M-Club Hall of Fame this Fall.

Some of the best athletes to ever don the green and white received the call that their legacy will be cemented in Northwest lore this Fall.

Five former athletes and one former administrator will be enshrined in the M-Club Hall of Fame October 25 during Homecoming week at Northwest Missouri State University.

Football player Jake Soy, tennis player Malcolm Harrison, basketball player Danae (Wagner) Ites, track & field athlete Venus Harris, football player/track & field athlete Tyler Shaw and faculty athletics representative David Crozier make up the class.

The Class of 2019 will be inducted into the M-Club Hall of Fame during the annual festivities on Fri., Oct. 25 in the J.W. Jones Student Union Ballroom and will be recognized during the Homecoming football game on Sat., Oct. 26. Tickets for the Friday evening banquet are $25 each and may be purchased by contacting Kiersten Orton (korton@nwmissouri.edu) in the athletics office at 660-562-1977. Seating for the event is limited and the deadline to reserve your spot at the banquet is Oct. 18, or until tickets are sold out.

Malcolm Harrison – Men's Tennis (2010-2011)
Two-Time MIAA Player of the Year (only time in school history)
No. 1 and No. 5 in single-season wins totals by an individual
57-6 career record (Regular Season & Tournament Champs both years)
 

Venus Harris – Women's Track & Field (1987-1988)
School-record holder in 100m, 200m, 400m
3-time All-American
1987 – 400m (indoor); 400m (outdoor)
1988 – 4x800 relay (indoor)
 
 
Danae (Wagner) Ites – Women's Basketball (1988-1992)
Second all-time in scoring at Northwest (1,538 points); Ranks No. 5 on Northwest's rebounding list (706)
First-Team all-MIAA (1992); Second-team all-MIAA (1991); Honorable Mention all-MIAA (1990)
One of 10 Bearcats to score 500 or more points in a single season (523 in 1990-1991)
One of 18 Bearcats to score 1,000 points and post 500 rebounds in her career
 
 
Jake Soy – Football (2008-2011)
Northwest's all-time touchdown receptions leaders (45); ranks No. 3 in school history in yards (3,687)
Led nation and set MIAA marks for receiving yards (1,559) and TD receptions (27) in 2009
First Team All-America in 2009 (Daktronics, D2Football.com
Two-time first-team all-MIAA pick (2009, 2010)
 
 
Dale Kisker – Baseball (1979-1982)
First-Team all-MIAA (1982); Second-Team all-MIAA (1981)
Owns Northwest career records for ERA (2.64) and shutouts (6)
Tied for first in school history in season complete games (9) and season shutouts (3)
Won 20 career games and posted 17 complete games (both 2nd in Northwest history)
 
 
Tyler Shaw – Track & Field/Football (2009-2012)
Six-time all-America honoree in track & field; two-time MIAA champion (110 hurdles)
Holds school record in the 60m hurdles (7.97 in 2011); 110m hurdles (14.03 in 2009)
In football earned second-team all-MIAA in 2012; honorable mention all-MIAA in 2011
3,021 receiving yards, 166 career receptions, 4,598 all-purpose yards; 32 receiving TDs
 
 
David Crozier – Administrator (Faculty Athletics Representative)
Served as Northwest's first NCAA Faculty Athletics Representative from 1966 to 1981
Handled all NCAA eligibility and participation for Northwest
Taught industrial arts for 42 years at Horace Mann High School
Nominated Robert "Chip" Gregory for the NCAA postgraduate scholarship (first winner in school history)
