For the fifth time in six seasons, Northwest Missouri State men's basketball is playing for the NCAA Central Region Championship.

The Bearcats host Missouri Southern Tuesday night with a berth in the Elite Eight on the line.

Northwest already has one win against Southern under their belt this season, an 82-62 decision on February 2, but it's not a team they'll be taking lightly.

The Lions overcame a 14-point deficit Sunday to advance to the Sweet 16. Bearcat freshman Trevor Hudgins said Northwest is bracing for a heavyweight fight.

"Missouri Southern is a really good team. They're probably one of the toughest teams in our conference, and probably in the region. It's going to be a battle for 40 minutes. We're going to have to come out aggressive and focused and smart. It's just going to be a battle."

Northwest enters the game with a 34-0 record, while Missouri Southern is 25-7.

The last time the Bearcats reached the Sweet 16, they beat Southwest Minnesota State 55-52, and went on to win the national championship.

Tip off Tuesday is set for 7pm. Pregame gets underway at 6:40pm on KXCV 90.5 and KRNW 88.9.
