Chillicothe City Council discuss increase in sales tax

CHILLICOTHE, Mo. - The Chillicothe City Council met for the first time this year. One of the big items on the agenda was a quarter cent sales tax increase to help support the police department. Even if the increase is approved, Chillicothe will still have less than an eight percent sales tax and would be the lowest of all full service cities in Northwest Missouri. Chillicothe City Manager Darin Chappell told KXCV/KRNW that Chillicothe has not had a tax increase in more than 17 years and this increase has a rationale behind it.
