MSHP: Tarkio woman and man injured in a single-vehicle


TARKIO, Mo. - The Missouri Highway Patrol says an Atchison County woman was seriously injured in a single-vehicle wreck.

58-year-old Lisa Peterson of Tarkio was driving a 2006 Jeep Commander on U.S. 59 Highway, three miles north of Tarkio. At 1:25 a.m. Thursday, the Jeep went off the side of the road, struck a ditch and a fence, and then overturned.

Peterson, and 61-year-old Clifford Smith of Tarkio, were taken to Community Hospital in Fairfax. Peterson suffered serious injuries while Smith suffered moderate injuries. Neither were wearing seatbelts. No word yet on what caused the accident.
