JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Missouri Department of Transportation has a safety reminder that is more about the dangers on tracks.
MoDOT says this week is Rail Safety Week and they want to make sure people are aware about the dangers of highway rail crossing.
That's because on average, there are 35 highway rail crossing collisions and five fatalities in Missouri every year. That's why officials want you to keep in mind that you should always expect a train while crossing, and if you see a train, it's likely closer and faster than you think.
