LATHROP, Mo. - The Missouri State Highway Patrol says ice played a major role in a serious wreck.
The Patrol says a Chevy Lumina, driven by 18-year-old Devyn Robinson and occupied by 19-year-old Blake Brown and 19-year-old Kriston Pennington, all of Lathrop, was southbound on I-35, two and a half miles south of Lathrop.
At 1:55 p.m. Monday, the vehicle slid, traveled across the median and struck a Mitsubishi Highlander driven by 71-year-old Elihu Tatum of Braymer.
All four sustained serious injuries; Robinson, Brown and Tatum were taken to Liberty Hospital, with Pennington sent to North Kansas City Hospital. All involved were wearing seatbelts.
