Geosmin causing distinct smell & taste in Maryville water

If your water has been smelling or tasting funny, you're not alone. The City of Maryville's water department has been dealing with heightened levels of geosmin in Lake Mozingo recently.

City Manager Greg McDanel says the water treatment plant has been able to remove most of the geosmin.

McDanel noted the contaminant is non-toxic, but it does give a distinct flavor.
