JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Missouri Department of Conservation reports that hunters killed 14,555 deer during the alternative-methods portion of the deer hunting season.
The period, which runs from Dec. 26 through Jan. 5, saw an increase by more than 2,000 compared to last year's total.
News Services Coordinator Joe Jerek told KXCV/KRNW that hunters are allowed to take deer using items like muzzleloader rifles and bows during this period.
The archery deer and turkey season continues through this Friday.
