DES MOINES, Iowa - The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is giving people a heads-up when it comes to permanent ice fishing shelters. The Iowa DNR says the shelters must be removed from all state-owned lands and waters by Feb. 20.
Shelter owners are encouraged not to wait until the last minute because the shelter could end up falling through the ice if they wait too long. That would mean the owner is responsible for getting it out of the lake.
