SAVANNAH, Mo. - After dispatching an ad hoc committee last fall to further explore the Savannah R-III district's use of the Savage mascot, Savannah's school board of education heard from the committee Monday night.
Committee chairman Randy Roth was expected to provide a recommendation, but instead reported a deadlock tie among committee members.
The ninth person on the committee, Roth said he didn't feel comfortable breaking a 4-4 tie on whether to change the mascot. The school board will now review the committee's findings and decide how to proceed.
