PLEASANT HILL, Mo. - Tornadoes is the topic of Tuesday during severe weather preparedness week in Missouri.
While we haven't had a lot of tornadoes in our KXCV/KRNW listening area in the past few years, forecaster with the National Weather Service Jared Leighton says all it takes it one twister to do a lot of damage.
There have been dozens of tornadoes in the Maryville area since 1950. In 1919, a tornado struck the Northwest Missouri State University campus, ripping the roof off of the Administration Building.
