As warmer temperatures rise, eager paddlers are breaking out their kayaks and canoes to travel on the water. However, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources warns it may take several weeks before water conditions are ideal to ride on.
River Programs Outreach Coordinator Todd Robertson says cold water temperatures could mean death for paddlers.
Robertson also reminds travelers to prepare their canoes or kayaks before takeoff.
