WASHINGTON - One financial website is taking a look at the most and least federally dependent states in the nation, and one state in our listening area is the least federally dependent.
WalletHub found that Kansas is the least federally dependent state in the nation. Iowa is the fifth least dependent state in the nation while Nebraska is the 12th least dependent state.
As for Missouri, it's the 16th most federally dependent state in the U.S. WalletHub looked at several metrics for this study, including federal contracts, financial assistance, gross domestic product and other factors.
