WEST DES MOINES, Iowa - The Iowa Department of Natural Resources wants to remind people that this week is National Safe Boating Week.
Boating Law Administrator and Education Coordinator Susan Stocker told KXCV/KRNW that one thing people need before hitting the waters in their boat, is an engine cutoff switch on their person in case things go sour.
Wearing an engine cutoff lanyard has been a law for boaters in federal waters since April 1 of this year.
