Elderly man in serious condition after motorcycle wreck

POLO, Mo. - The Missouri State Highway Patrol says an elderly man is in serious condition after a motorcycle wreck in Caldwell County over the weekend.

The Patrol says 72-year-old Janice Tersehn, of Aplington, Iowa, was driving a 2001 Honda motorcycle and 80-year-old Thomas Wiarda, of Ackley, Iowa, was driving a 2020 Harley Davidson on 13 Highway, four miles north of Polo.

At 11:35 a.m. Sunday, the Harley slammed into a unit being towed by the Honda after the Honda slowed down for traffic.

The collision caused Wiarda to be ejected from the Harley Davidson. Wiarda was taken to Liberty Hospital with serious injures. Tersehn suffered no injuries.
