CHARITON, Iowa - It's that time of year for deer to be out and about and the Iowa Department of Conservation is urging drivers to be aware of new fawns.
Forest Wildlife Research Biologist with the Iowa DNR Jim Coffey told KXCV/KRNW that fawning season is the 2nd biggest peak for deer movements for the year and sees a behavior change in deer.
Fawning season usually lasts between 10 days to two weeks and coincides with an increase in deer vehicle collisions.
