COLUMBUS, Neb. - There has been a sharp uptick in scam activity with scammers posing as Nebraska Public Power District.
Grant Otten, Media Relations Specialist for NPPD, told KXCV/KRNW that these calls never really go away and they want customers to stay aware these scammers are out there.
He says the NPPD will never call or text a customer and threaten to shut off their power or demand payment.
If a customer is ever unsure whether they are talking to NPPD or believe they are being targeted by scammers, they should hang up the phone and call 1-877-ASK-NPPD.
