AMES, Iowa - Since May the Mid-Alantic states have been receiving a sharp uptick of sick or dead songbirds.
State Wildlife Veterinarian of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources Rachel Ruden told KXCV/KRNW that the birds that seem to be most vulnerable to the mystery ailment include grackles, starlings, robins, and blue jays.
While the DNR is tracking the situation, there has been no reports of unusual avian sickness or mortality within the state, and officials say there are no reasons to remove bird feeders in Iowa.
